André Mariën has over 40 years of experience in IT and information security. During the last 25 years he has delivered and coached a very diverse set of security projects: projects related to risk management, writing security policies, items related to legal and contractual aspects (contractual annex related to security, privacy, PCI), awareness programs, audit of security of IT department and specific areas, definition and review of security architecture, designs and implementation focusing on security, security in applications and infrastructure, issues in the IAM sphere, like authorization models and PKI, defining standards, guidelines and procedures, guidelines for secure coding and assessment of code, correct use of cryptography and security protocols. He was responsible and contributor for full stack security posture evaluations of financial organizations.

He obtained a master-after-master in enterprise architecture and the Togaf certification. He taught enterprise security architecture in the enterprise architecture master-after-master education. He is presented on various occasions in different countries and for different audiences.

He is an experienced consultant, backed-up by a broad spectrum of information systems knowledge. He has sharpened his communication skills during 40+ years via presentations on conferences and trade shows, like goCSI (Washington) en Cosac (Ireland).

He coached and managed a pan-European teams of about 15 high-level security consultants, and 15 technical security engineers. He worked in Europe, USA and Asia.

He was active within OWASP, had a CISA certificate and possessed a NATO clearance. He is a long-time reviewer of articles and books for ACM computing reviews, covering a very broad spectrum of security publications. He was associated with the KULeuven for more than 35 years, and a professor civil engineering at the computer science department, for the last 20 years.
